2025 FUBA National Basketball League finalists Namuwongo Blazers will make their Basketball Africa League (BAL) debut this week, with the Road to BAL East Division set for October 17–19 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Clubs from across East Africa will compete for two spots in the Elite 16, representing the region. The Blazers have been drawn against hosts Dar City and Comoros’ Djabal Basket Iconi.
After days of training at Lugogo Arena, the Steven Nyeko-coached side is set to depart for the tournament tomorrow, boosted by new additions American guard John Murray and Nigerian forward John Obasa, both of whom bring BAL and international experience.
Bereal Jr Jaycson Ray and Muhumuza Favor Mutuwa have also joined to add depth to the team.
The rest of the squad includes James Okello, Innocent Ochera, Peter Obleng, Ivan Muhwezi, Joel Lukoji Banza, Jimmy Enabu, Tnny Drileba, and Anthony Chukwurah.
