Both the Football Association (FA) and Lancashire Police are looking into an alleged incident where Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri spat at Leeds United fans during the Clarets’ 2-0 win on Saturday.
The police action follows a complaint made by an away supporter. Mejbri, 22, who came on as a substitute, was later booked for a confrontation with a Leeds player.
The FA is currently reviewing the allegation but has not launched a full investigation. Lancashire Police confirmed they are “establishing the facts” and working with Burnley FC.
Neither Burnley nor Leeds United have issued a comment on the situation.
