Uganda’s Victoria Pearls delivered another spectacular performance in matchday four of the Victoria Series at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, extending their winning streak with a 43-run victory over Canada.
After winning the toss, Uganda captain Janet Mbabazi opted to bat first. The hosts posted 113 for 4, led by Rita Musamali, who anchored the innings with an unbeaten 46 off 43 balls at a strike rate of nearly 107. Proscovia Alako also remained unbeaten on 30 off 31 with a healthy strike rate of 103.
For Canada, right-arm medium-fast bowler Rabbjyot Rajput led the attack with figures of 3 for 16 at an economy of 3.00 in her four-over spell, while off-spinner Terisha Lavia claimed the other wicket, trapping Stephanie Nampiina leg before wicket (LBW) in the 10th over.
In reply, Canada’s chase faltered early as openers Achini Perera and Indomatie Goordial were dismissed in the first over. Right-hand batter Kainat Qazi showed resistance with a patient 14 off 31, while Vandana Mahajan added 13 off 16 and Habeeba Barder chipped in with 11 off 16.
Uganda’s bowling attack was led by Kevin Amuge, who took two wickets. Immaculate Nakisuuyi also claimed two in her two-over spell, while veteran Consylate Aweko Nimungu and Tino Sarah picked one apiece.
Rita Musamali was named the BlackLyf Player of the Match after her outstanding unbeaten 46, which propelled Uganda to their fourth straight win over Canada.
The 2025 Victoria Series finale is set for Sunday at 10 a.m. (EAT) at the same venue. Fans are invited to witness the fifth and final T20 as the girls look to complete a clean sweep.
