Uganda’s long-distance sensation Jacob Kiplimo has confirmed he will compete at the National Cross Country Championships set for November 15, 2025, at the Mbale Golf Course.
The championship will be a key tune-up event for Kiplimo as he prepares to defend his world title at the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships, scheduled for January 10 in Tallahassee, USA.
Kiplimo heads into the national meet as the reigning world champion after securing back-to-back global victories in 2023 and 2024.
His triumph in Belgrade last year, clocking 28:09, further cemented his reputation as one of the finest cross-country runners in the world.
His participation in Mbale is expected to draw huge crowds, with local fans eager to watch their national hero in action.
The event will also provide an opportunity for upcoming runners to test themselves against Uganda’s top athlete in front of a passionate home crowd.
