Ugandan steeplechase runner Leonard Chemutai has arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Islamic Solidarity Games, where he will represent the country in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Chemutai, one of Uganda’s brightest young athletes, heads into the competition with growing confidence after a string of solid performances on the international stage.
The former African champion, who boasts a personal best of 8:17.14, has already proven himself among the continent’s elite and was a top-eight finisher at the World U20 Championships.
His appearance in Saudi Arabia marks another opportunity to build on that momentum and uphold Uganda’s rich legacy in distance running.
He says he’s eager to make his presence felt and bring pride to his country as he lines up against some of the world’s top emerging talents.
