Featherweight boxer Innocent Amoko has his sights set on more than just victory when he steps into the ring against Patrick Ambayo in Week 15 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League at the NCS Arena in Lugogo on November 15.
With only two outings left before the grand finale of Season 4, the showdown between the two fighters from Luo land has already captured the attention of boxing fans across Uganda. But for Amoko, the fight is not just about local bragging rights — it’s a stepping stone toward global ambitions.
Speaking during training, the outspoken boxer declared that his motivation goes far beyond the UBCL. “This fight with Ambayo is nothing. I’m just going to confirm to the fans that I am the winner and the king. I am not tea for Ambayo,” Amoko said.
Known for his confidence and fiery personality, Amoko dismissed his opponent as merely another stop on his path to international success. “Ambayo is nothing. I am not training for him. I am preparing for my future. I have vision — not like these guys here in the Champions League,” he added.
Amoko revealed that his long-term focus is on representing Uganda at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. “I am training for the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. These other opponents… I just see them as sparring partners,” he said.
Despite looking ahead to global competition, Amoko still sent a stern warning to Ambayo, promising fireworks on fight night. “He should come knowing he is not going to finish any round. I’m not promising, but I feel it in my body that he won’t finish,” Amoko warned.
With confidence in his preparation and skills, Amoko assured fans that he’s ready to deliver a statement performance. “I’ve been training hard. I have the skills, and I am ready. Everyone will see what I’m going to do in that ring,” he said.
The high-stakes clash between Amoko and Ambayo will be broadcast live on NBS Sport and streamed via Afro Mobile.
