Manchester United officials have sought to play down concerns over the severity of Benjamin Sesko’s knee injury, sustained during Saturday’s draw with Tottenham.
The £73.7 million striker will miss Slovenia’s crucial World Cup qualifiers after jarring his knee, though United is privately distancing itself from fears the 22-year-old could be sidelined for months.
Coach Ruben Amorim initially expressed uncertainty, noting that a knee issue “you never know” and it might affect January transfer plans.
The news comes as United prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations departures of forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, and defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Separately, United defender Lisandro Martinez, who is recovering from major knee surgery in February, has been allowed to link up with the Argentina squad at their European base.
The club believes the move will benefit Martinez’s return to fitness, though he will not feature in their friendly against Angola. A member of United’s performance team will travel with him.
