Carlos Alcaraz, 22, clinched the year-end men’s world number one ranking for 2025 by defeating Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-1 at the ATP Finals in Turin.
The win cemented his spot atop the rankings over rival Jannik Sinner and ensured he topped the Jimmy Connors Group with a perfect 3-0 record.
Alcaraz expressed that securing the number one ranking “means everything,” following a season where he leads the tour with 70 match wins and eight titles.
Alcaraz has avoided Sinner in the semi-finals and awaits the winner between Zverev and Auger-Aliassime.
Sinner will face Australia’s Alex de Minaur, who dramatically qualified after recovering from a “dark place” following back-to-back losses to beat Taylor Fritz 7-6 (7-3) 6-3.
In the doubles, top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool set up an all-British semi-final against Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski.
