Barcelona celebrated a triumphant 4-0 win over 10-man Athletic Club on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in their first match back at the Spotify Camp Nou since extensive renovations began in May 2023.
The victory temporarily moved the reigning Spanish champions to the top of the La Liga table.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the fourth minute, netting the first goal back in the renovated stadium.
Ferran Torres then scored just before half-time, assisted by the superb skill of teenager Lamine Yamal.
The dominance continued after the break when Fermín López made it 3-0 in the 48th minute.
Athletic Club’s night worsened six minutes later when midfielder Oihan Sancet was sent off following a VAR review for a crude challenge on López.
Yamal provided a second assist just before full-time, setting up Torres for his second goal of the night, which was confirmed after a VAR check.
Playing in front of a partially closed stadium, the 4-0 rout marked a dream homecoming for Barcelona as they continue their title defence.
