Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur has responded to Lewis Hamilton’s extreme pessimism following a tough Las Vegas Grand Prix, urging his driver to “calm down.”
Hamilton, 40, finished 8th (up from 10th post-race due to McLaren’s double disqualification) after starting near the back, but claimed he took “zero” positives from the weekend, calling it his “worst season ever.”
The seven-time world champion is yet to score a podium in his debut year at Ferrari and sits 74 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Vasseur acknowledged Hamilton’s frustration, noting that the driver’s strong pace in practice was ruined by a wet qualifying session. He suggested the required immediate post-race interviews intensified the negative emotions.
“I can understand the reaction from Lewis just after the race but we just have to calm down, to discuss and to be focused on the next two,” Vasseur said, adding that a driver’s focus should be on working with the team on Monday, not on post-race media comments.
