Since joining Greek second-tier side GS Ilioupolis in August 2025, Miya has made an immediate impact, scoring four goals in just 10 appearances and quickly becoming a key figure in the team’s attacking setup.

Miya’s career has been defined by a diverse array of experiences, having previously played for Rizespor and Konyaspor in Turkey, PFC Lviv in Ukraine, HNK Gorica in Croatia, FK Sabail in Azerbaijan, Standard Liège and Royal Mouscron (on loan) in Belgium, and Vipers SC in his native Uganda.

This journey has honed his skill, resilience, and adaptability, making him one of Uganda’s most accomplished exports in modern football.

Salary and Contract Details

While GS Ilioupolis has largely kept the details of their financial arrangements under wraps, reports from unofficial channels suggest that Miya pockets a monthly gross wage of around €7,000 (roughly UGX 29 million). This places his projected annual earnings at about €84,000 (UGX 352 million).

His current deal with the Greek club spans one year and is reportedly valued at €84,000 (UGX 352 million), a figure that includes performance-related bonuses and other incentives.

Market Value and Growth

Miya’s rise has also been mirrored in his steadily increasing market value over the years, despite the rapid drop lately.

His highest Transfermarkt valuation was €2.5 million (UGX. 10.5 billion), which was in 2022 as a Konyaspor player in the Turkish Super League. His current market value €150,000 (UGX. 630million).

Career Path

Farouk Miya’s football journey has taken him across multiple countries and leagues, beginning with his breakthrough at Vipers SC in Uganda.

In 2016, he made the leap to Europe, signing with Belgian side Standard Liège, and subsequently embarked on a series of loan and permanent moves, including stints at Royal Excel Mouscron, Sabail FK, and Turkey’s Konyaspor.

Most recently, in August 2025, Miya inked a deal with Greek Super League 2 outfit GS Ilioupolis, following a two-year tenure at Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey. Beyond club football, he has been a pivotal figure for the Uganda national team, the Cranes, having earned 73 international caps, netting 23 times.
