Uganda booked their place at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations after beating hosts Ethiopia 3 to 0 in the CECAFA semifinal on Sunday at Abebe Bikila Stadium.
The result confirmed Uganda among the three regional teams heading to the continental tournament.
Uganda controlled the match with a calm and disciplined approach, then broke it open after the break. Lorian Lwesibawa scored in the fifty second minute after sustained pressure.
Two minutes later Thomas Ogema added the second with a composed finish that pushed Uganda firmly ahead.
The Cubs continued to dictate the tempo and sealed qualification in the seventy eighth minute. Lwesibawa converted a free kick with a curling strike that gave him a brace and closed out the win.
Uganda kept Ethiopia quiet throughout, giving up few chances and maintaining structure in the defensive third.
Tanzania had earlier qualified after a 3 to 1 win over Kenya in the first semifinal. With both finalists and the bronze medallist earning AFCON spots, Uganda secured qualification even before the final whistle.
Uganda will now face Tanzania in the CECAFA final on Tuesday at Abebe Bikila Stadium.
Uganda enter the match as defending champions and will aim to close the campaign with the regional title.
