Two rising Ugandan stars, James Bogere and Hamza Sengooba, have taken a major step in their budding careers, signing their first professional contracts with Danish top-flight club Aarhus Gymnastikforening (AGF).
El Cambio, the Masaka-based football academy that nurtured the pair, confirmed the milestone on Tuesday: “We can now reveal that James Bogere and Hamza Sengooba both have put their signatures to some incredible transfers in Europe.”
The partnership between El Cambio and AGF is already bearing fruit, with the Danish Superliga leaders set to welcome the duo in the upcoming transfer window.
Both players will integrate into AGF’s U19 setup starting February 2026, following a standout World Cup campaign with Uganda’s youth national team. Bogere dazzled in front of goal, while Sengooba captained the Cubs to the round of 16.
Bogere’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed, as his goal-scoring prowess has earned him a rare call-up to the Uganda Senior Men’s National Team, the Cranes. He is currently in Morocco, preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Bogere and Sengooba have signed long-term agreements with AGF, and will therefore be ready to play for the U19 team starting next year,” the Danish club confirmed.
El Cambio expressed pride in the young talents’ achievements: “We are proud of our boys and can’t wait to follow them in their careers.”
