Uganda’s men’s national netball team, The Rock, suffered a 37 to 33 loss to Zimbabwe in their second group match at the 2025 Africa Netball Championship at the Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe on Wednesday December 10.
Uganda started well, taking a 12 to 7 lead in the first quarter and holding a narrow 20 to 19 edge at halftime. Zimbabwe adjusted quickly on defense, forcing errors and turnovers as The Rock led the third quarter 26 to 24.
The Zimbabwe men’s team, backed by stronger continental experience, delivered a composed and aggressive performance with precise shooting. The final quarter proved decisive as Zimbabwe outscored The Rock 13 to 7 to claim the win.
According to Head Coach Jesse Asiimwe and captain Gonzaga Kigozi, the contest offered valuable lessons. Zimbabwe showed the consistency needed to challenge for medals. The Rock have the athleticism but must turn that into cleaner execution, especially under fatigue.

The Rock’s campaign in Lilongwe remains a mix of ambition and learning, and Zimbabwe have delivered a tough but timely early test.
