The Uganda Cranes have intensified their AFCON 2025 preparations in Morocco. Goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian said the team approached the first workout with focus despite the expected physical fatigue.
Speaking after training, Nafian noted the familiar early camp challenge.
“The first day is not bad. Of course, you will have to feel a bit tired and the muscles are a bit stiff, but we try to loosen up.” He added that the opening day always demands extra effort, saying, “The first day is always hard, but we have really tried to give our best.”
Nafian underscored the importance of the tournament and what it means to compete at this level.
“It is the biggest level of football in Africa, where every player wants to play and it has produced so many great players. So, it is a great feeling to be part of the biggest game in Africa.”
He also offered encouragement to young goalkeepers and aspiring players.
“The only thing I can tell them is to be disciplined and to have inspirations, to have models and follow the players. The biggest game in Africa is produced to get inspired and they should always work hard to also get where we are right now in Africa and become part of the continent’s greatest players.”
Uganda will continue training in Morocco with two buildup fixtures included in the program. The Cranes face FAR Rabat on 13 December before meeting Gabon on 17 December as part of their final preparation phase. FAR Rabat are currently competing in the CAF Champions League.
