The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) have announced a strict list of prohibited items for all AFCON 2025 venues to ensure a “safe and family-friendly” tournament.
The most notable restriction is a total ban on laser pointers, which officials have labeled “a blatant form of cheating” following past incidents of fans distracting goalkeepers.
Prohibited Items Include:
- Safety Hazards: Weapons, sharp objects, and pyrotechnics (flares/fireworks).
- Distractions: Laser pointers and offensive/political banners.
- Liquids & Containers: Alcohol, glass bottles, and cans.
- Large Gear: Backpacks exceeding approved size limits.
Moroccan authorities have deployed trained security personnel across all six host cities to enforce these rules.
The tournament is set to kick off on December 21, 2025, as Morocco aims to showcase its world-class hosting capabilities.
