Morocco coach Walid Regragui has confirmed that captain Achraf Hakimi is fit and ready for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year-old PSG star has recovered from a severe ankle injury sustained in early November.
While Hakimi has declared himself ready for Sunday’s opening match against Comoros, Regragui is weighing whether to start the defender or protect him for the remainder of the tournament.
“He is able to start, but he might not start,” Regragui said, praising Hakimi’s “sacrifices” during his recovery.
The Atlas Lions enter the tournament as Africa’s top-ranked side, carrying an 18-match winning streak.
Morocco is seeking its first continental title since 1976 and will face Mali and Zambia later in Group A.
