Allan Okello has officially brought his successful stint at Vipers SC to an end after completing a move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, closing the chapter on one of the most productive periods of his career.
The Ugandan international departs Kitende on the back of a historic domestic double, having played a decisive role in Vipers’ 2024/2025 Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup triumphs.
His exit follows months of interest from Young Africans, who have now finalised the transfer and secured the services of one of East Africa’s most gifted midfielders.
Okello leaves Vipers at the peak of his powers after an outstanding individual campaign. He finished the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League as the Golden Boot winner with 19 goals, an exceptional return for a creative midfielder.
In total, he scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in 58 Uganda Premier League appearances, numbers that underline his consistency, influence and attacking quality.
Beyond domestic success, Okello also carried Vipers’ ambitions onto the continental stage, featuring in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, where the Venoms reached the second preliminary round. His performances against top African opposition further enhanced his reputation as a player capable of dictating games at the highest level.
The former KCCA FC academy graduate joined Vipers in September 2023 after leaving Algerian side AC Paradou and quickly established himself as the creative heartbeat of the team. His vision, technique and composure in the final third made him one of the most influential players in the league and a central figure in Vipers’ recent dominance.
Young Africans, who are pushing to strengthen their squad for sustained domestic success and a deeper run in the CAF Champions League, moved decisively to secure Okello’s signature. The transfer, believed to be worth around $300,000, reflects the high regard in which he is held across the region.
At Young Africans, Okello will follow a familiar Ugandan path previously taken by Steven Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi, Diego Hamis and Khalid Aucho, as he begins a new chapter in Dar es Salaam with heightened expectations.
Okello leaves Vipers SC not just as a departing player, but as a proven winner whose impact was felt in trophies, records and moments of brilliance. His move to Young Africans marks the next step for a midfielder who exits Ugandan football with his reputation firmly enhanced.
