The “Pamoja AFCON 2027” dream is officially underway following the formal handover of the tournament flag by CAF President Patrice Motsepe to Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania on Sunday night.
The historic ceremony marks the first time three East African nations will jointly host Africa’s premier football tournament.
CAF President Motsepe urged the hosts to deliver a world-class event, stating, “Over to you, East Africa — we must not let Africa down.”
Despite recent criticism from some international pundits regarding regional road networks, CAF and host leaders remain committed to using the tournament to accelerate infrastructure development.
The tournament is expected to deepen regional cooperation and shine a global spotlight on East African football talent.
With Senegal recently crowned the 2025 champions, the focus now shifts entirely to the “Pamoja” hosts as they begin the countdown to 2027.
