Yet another Ugandan football player will be plying his trade in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).

This follows Joel Madondo’s move from Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini to PSL side Richards Bay FC.

“The club has received and accepted an offer from Richards Bay FC for the permanent transfer of Joel Madondo to a Betway Premiership side in South Africa,” Nsingizini confirmed in a statement.

“Details of the deal have been finalized and Richards Bay FC have agreed personal terms with the player.”

Madondo leaves the Eswatini outfit less than a year into his two-year contract, which he signed when he joined the club in July 2025.

“Whilst he will be greatly missed in the Nsingizini family, his future comes first and we are very thankful for his contribution to the success of the club,” the statement added.

“We wish him all the best in his new challenge and applaud the professional conduct displayed by Richards Bay FC during the transfer process.”

At the Natal Rich Boys, Madondo has signed a two-year contract that will run until the January 2028 transfer window.

He will be playing for the same club as his compatriot, goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola, who has spent over three years at Richards Bay after joining in July 2022.

Madondo’s move makes him the third Ugandan player in the PSL this season, with Denis Onyango still on the books of champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Several Ugandan players have previously featured in South African football, including Postnet Omony, David Obua, Moses Waiswa, Timothy Batabaire, Geoffrey Massa and Allan Kateregga.

Others include Yasser Mugerwa, Isma Watenga, Godfrey Walusimbi, Charles Lukwago, Sula Matovu, Brian Umony, Ivan Bukenya, Boban Zirintusa and Geoffrey Sserunkuma.
