Aspiring SC Villa president Hajji Farouk Meywa has officially launched his presidential manifesto, formally declaring his intention to challenge incumbent president Umar Mandela ahead of the club’s forthcoming elections.
Meywa unveiled his manifesto at the newly proposed SC Villa offices in Old Kampala, outlining a vision he says is aimed at restoring the club’s former glory after years of stagnation.
He presented himself as a credible alternative to the current leadership, citing his academic qualifications and long-standing passion for SC Villa as key strengths.
The aspirant president criticised the current administration for what he described as repeated failures to deliver on promises, particularly in the development of club infrastructure. Meywa argued that SC Villa has fallen behind its rivals due to a lack of decisive action, despite assurances previously made to members and supporters.
During the launch, Meywa also turned his attention to the governance of the election process. He issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, calling on FUFA to intervene and ensure that the SC Villa management releases a clear election roadmap.
The timing and structure of the SC Villa elections remain unclear, with no official roadmap yet communicated to members, a situation Meywa says undermines transparency and accountability at one of Uganda’s most historic football clubs.
