Ugandan midfielder Allan Okello has made a decent start at Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, following his January switch from Ugandan champions Vipers SC, with his agent, Sultan Atubo, lauding the player’s seamless transition.
The 25-year-old playmaker has quickly adjusted to the new environment, embracing the heightened intensity and altered routines that come with a move to one of East Africa and Africa’s most prominent clubs.
“Allan has settled in well at Yanga, he’s very happy and the club is very happy with him,” Atubo told NBS Sport in an exclusive interview.
“It’s now different dynamics, and the routine is not the same as what he was used to back in Uganda, but he has settled in brilliantly. The environment, the expectations, the intensity of training, everything is on a different level, and he’s embracing that challenge.”

Since arriving in January, Okello has already made five appearances, featuring twice in the Tanzania Premier League and three times in the CAF Champions League. Starting in four of those matches, the Ugandan international has earned immediate trust from the Yanga coaching staff.
While he has yet to find the back of the net, his creativity, vision, and relentless work ethic have made an early impression.
Atubo highlighted that Okello’s smooth integration both on and off the field has been a key factor in his quick acclimatization to Tanzanian football.

“He has been welcomed very well by his teammates and the technical staff,” Atubo said. “That support has made a big difference. He understands that joining a big club like Yanga comes with pressure, but he’s confident in his abilities.”
Okello’s move to Yanga followed a prolific period at Vipers SC, where he played a pivotal role in guiding the club to a historic domestic double, winning both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.
He also finished the league season as the top scorer with 19 goals, further cementing his reputation as one of Uganda’s most influential football talents.
With Young Africans competing on multiple fronts, including the CAF Champions League, the expectations on Okello are substantial. However, his agent remains confident that the midfielder is on the right trajectory and will soon begin to make tangible contributions in terms of goal involvements.
