Roberto De Zerbi has left his role as manager of Marseille by mutual consent following a disappointing run of form.
The Italian’s departure follows a humiliating 5-0 loss to rivals Paris Saint-Germain and a 3-0 defeat to Club Brugge that saw the club crashed out of the Champions League.
De Zerbi joined the French side in the summer of 2024 after a successful stint at Brighton. Despite leading Marseille to a second-place finish last season, the club currently sits fourth in Ligue 1, trailing leaders PSG by 12 points.
In a statement, Marseille confirmed the “difficult collective decision” was made in the best interests of the club to address the “sporting challenges” remaining in the season. The search for a new head coach is now underway.
