Argentina’s women and Germany’s men have seized an early lead in the race for the HSBC SVNS World Championship Series after winning gold at the inaugural SVNS 2 leg in Nairobi.
In the women’s division, Argentina took the title with 20 league points. Despite a dramatic 17-12 golden-point loss to South Africa in their final match, their dominant performance throughout the weekend secured the top spot.
In the men’s division, Germany stunned favorites USA and hosts Kenya to claim gold. A tactical 28-7 win over the Americans and a gritty victory against Belgium propelled them to the top of the standings.
Kenya’s men finished third after a 21-5 loss to the USA, despite a standout tournament from Player of the Tournament George Ooro Angeyo.
The top four teams from each division after three rounds will qualify for the elite promotion series in May. The action now moves to South America:
• Montevideo, Uruguay: March 21–22, 2026
• São Paulo, Brazil: March 28–29, 2026
