Bam Adebayo scored the second-most points in NBA history on Wednesday, racking up 83 points in the Miami Heat’s 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards.
The 28-year-old center surpassed Kobe Bryant’s 2006 mark of 81 points, leaving him trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 1962 record of 100.
Adebayo set new NBA records for both free-throws made (36) and attempted (43) during the dominant performance at the Kaseya Center.
“It’s Wilt, me, then Kobe, which sounds crazy,” an emotional Adebayo said after the game. “To have this moment and share it with [my family and trainers]… I wish I could relive it twice.”
