The Flamengo midfielder said his daughter, a big fan of Roan, simply smiled at the star before a guard confronted her and his wife “aggressively,” leaving the child in tears.
Roan later responded, saying she was unaware of the incident and that the guard was not part of her personal team. “I am sorry to the mother and child… you did not deserve that,” she said.
The clash sparked huge online reaction, with Rio’s mayor joking he would ban Roan from performing in the city while inviting Jorginho’s daughter as guest of honour at a local festival.
Jorginho, who won Euro 2021 with Italy, urged reflection: “It was just a child admiring someone. Without fans, you would be nothing.”
