Uganda Athletics Federation will hold elections on Saturday, with delegates set to choose new leaders to run the sport for the next four years.
Voting will take place at Mandela National Stadium, where representatives from across the country are expected to gather for the exercise.
A total of 22 positions are up for election, including key roles such as president, vice president, treasurer and publicity secretary. The officials elected will oversee the federation’s next phase, at a time when athletics remains one of Uganda’s most successful sports on the international stage.
Incumbent president Dominic Otucet, who has led the federation since 2002, is among those on the ballot. His tenure has spanned more than two decades, a period in which Uganda has continued to produce athletes competing at global level.
The elections come with expectations of continuity and renewal, as stakeholders look to strengthen structures, support athletes and build on recent performances.
For athletes, coaches and fans, the vote is seen as a key moment that will influence the direction of the sport and its ability to compete and grow in the coming years.
