Gold Star Ladies FC failed to honor their Women Elite League home fixture against Lira City Queens FC on Saturday, leaving fans and officials frustrated at Amus College Stadium.
The match, scheduled for 4:00pm, never kicked off as the hosts did not turn up. Lira City Queens, who arrived at 2:00pm and prepared for the encounter alongside match officials, waited until 5:00pm with no sign of their opponents.
Head coach Richards Opio voiced his disappointment, noting the away side had invested resources and preparation only for the game to collapse.
He added that the matter now rests with the competition department, but expressed confidence that his team will be awarded the points.
Under Article 25(4) of FUFA’s competition rules, a club that fails to show up forfeits the match with a 3–0 scoreline.
