Nikola Jokic scored 40 points to lead the Denver Nuggets past the San Antonio Spurs 136-134 in overtime, snapping their 11-game winning run.
Victor Wembanyama impressed with 34 points, but San Antonio let slip a fourth-quarter lead as Denver extended their own streak to eight.
Both MVP contenders praised each other after the clash, with Jokic calling Wembanyama “the most unique player to ever play the game,” while the Frenchman hailed Jokic as “the best offensive player in the world.”
The result keeps Denver fighting for a top-six playoff spot, while San Antonio remain secure in the Western Conference’s top two ahead of the post-season starting 18 April.
