Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has opened discussions with Cricket Uganda over plans to integrate cricket into the official National Secondary School Games calendar, following a meeting held on April 2.
USSSA chief executive officer Christopher Mugisha Banange, Competitions Director Kasakya Emarode and Marketing and Communication Director Omaria Bosco met Cricket Uganda Development Manager Turinawe Davis in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two bodies.
Cricket is currently played in schools through the annual schools week but is not part of the formal USSSA competitions structure.
The latest engagement signals a shift towards bringing the sport into the mainstream schools calendar, which would align it with other disciplines contested at national level.
The meeting focused on harmonising operations ahead of the 2026 National Secondary School Games and the FEASSA Games, with both parties exploring how cricket can be structured, managed and promoted within the existing framework.
The development forms part of USSSA’s broader effort to improve stakeholder relations while expanding opportunities for students to compete across a wider range of sports.
