In a historic moment for Ugandan sport, the Kampala University Men’s Netball Team—affectionately known as The Eagles—has been crowned champions of the 2025 Uganda Men’s Netball Super League (UNSL).
The title was formally presented at a joint awards ceremony held at Copper Chimney Restaurant, Lugogo, on April 1, 2026. The event marked a milestone for the sport, also honoring KCCA Netball Club as women’s champions—ending a staggering 42‑year title drought—and Buddo Secondary School as winners of the women’s Division Two crown.
A Dominant Campaign and Individual Excellence
The Eagles’ path to the podium was defined by discipline and skill. Their domestic triumph capped an extraordinary run that included a fourth consecutive East African Club Championship earlier this year.
Individual brilliance also shone through, with Goal Attack Bosco Yiga named UNSL Men’s MVP for 2025. Kampala University celebrated on Instagram: “Our own Goal Attack, Bosco Yiga, bagged the MVP. Biggest congrats to the star boy—you made us proud.”

Under Head Coach Jesse Asiimwe—who also leads the national team, The Rock—the Eagles showcased tactical superiority that became their trademark.
A Milestone for Men’s Netball: The Rise of The Rock
The Eagles’ success mirrors the steady rise of men’s netball across Africa. Kampala University contributes a significant number of players to the senior national team, The Rock. Officially adopted in 2021, the name symbolizes strength, stability, and discipline, inspired by the motto “God is Our Rock.”
That foundation was evident at the 2025 Men’s Africa Netball Cup in Lilongwe, Malawi, where Uganda finished a respectable fifth.
The Road to Brisbane 2032
While the Eagles celebrate their UNSL triumph, their ambitions stretch far beyond domestic glory. The victory comes as World Netball intensifies its Back the Bid campaign for the sport’s inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
For men’s netball, the growth of leagues like UNSL is vital. Olympic inclusion requires global reach across genders, and the success of teams like Kampala University strengthens the case for netball’s place on the world’s greatest sporting stage. Every goal scored is another brick laid on the road to Brisbane.
A Futuristic Glance
University programs such as Kampala’s highlight the critical role of academic institutions in talent development. With Brisbane 2032 as the guiding star, the Eagles are not just lifting trophies—they are pioneering a movement.
As one club official put it: “We are no longer just playing for the trophy—we are playing for the rings.”
