Harry Maguire says he is “desperate” to make England’s 2026 World Cup squad, insisting at 33 he remains among the world’s best defenders.
The Manchester United centre-back, recalled for recent friendlies, faces competition from Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, John Stones and Trevoh Chalobah.
“I think it would be my last World Cup,” Maguire said at United’s camp in Ireland. “I’m desperate to go, in whatever role the manager wants.”
England open their campaign against Croatia on June 17 in Dallas.
