Maroons bounced back strongly with a gritty 1-0 win over BUL at Luzira Prison Grounds on Wednesday, marking a positive restart to the league after the break.
Ivan Mayanja struck in the 21st minute, punishing a defensive lapse to hand the hosts the decisive advantage. BUL nearly responded before halftime, but Isaac Wagoina’s effort was calmly denied by goalkeeper Simon Tamale.
The second half saw BUL pile on the pressure, yet Maroons’ backline held firm, with Tamale producing a string of crucial saves to frustrate the visitors.
His commanding display earned him the Man of the Match award as Maroons secured all three points.
The victory lifts Maroons to ninth place on 29 points, just one behind BUL. Next up, Maroons face NEC at Lugogo on April 17, while BUL travel to Hamz Stadium to meet URA a day earlier.
