Union Berlin have condemned sexist abuse directed at interim head coach Marie-Louise Eta, the first woman to lead a men’s team in Europe’s top five leagues.
Director of football Horst Heldt called the online attacks “embarrassing” and insisted the club has “100% confidence” in Eta’s leadership.
Eta, 34, is a former Germany youth international and Champions League winner who previously served as Union’s assistant coach.
She will oversee her first training session on Tuesday, with the team currently 11th in the Bundesliga.
