East Africa will take a decisive step in its preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations when ministers from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania convene at the “Pamoja” summit next week to agree on a detailed roadmap for the tournament.
The high-level meeting is expected to settle key logistical and policy issues, including visa arrangements and tax exemptions for teams, officials and stakeholders.
Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary, Salim Mvurya, confirmed that the summit will bring together ministers from the three host nations to align planning and ensure a smooth build-up to the competition.
“There are several decisions we will be making next week. The meeting will address matters such as visas, tax exemptions and many others,” Mvurya said in Nairobi after meeting CAF Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu.
He reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to delivering the continental showpiece alongside its regional partners, adding: “We have a lot of activities ahead to ensure we deliver a successful competition.”
The Confederation of African Football will provide guidance as the summit outlines a formal roadmap, marking a significant step in translating East Africa’s historic joint bid into a unified plan.
East Africa secured hosting rights in a landmark joint bid, and next week’s summit is expected to signal a new phase of coordinated preparations for the region’s biggest football event to date.
