Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the Madrid Open, prolonging her absence from the WTA Tour.
The 23‑year‑old Briton is still recovering from a viral illness that disrupted her season in February and has not played since Indian Wells in March.
Her next chance to return will be at the Italian Open in Rome on 5 May, though missing the clay swing entirely would leave her short of match practice heading into the grass and US hard‑court seasons.
Raducanu, who has battled back problems and surgeries in recent years, continues to focus on fitness as she weighs up her comeback.
