Gianinna Maradona told a court in San Isidro that her family was “totally manipulated” by doctors before Diego Maradona’s death in 2020.
She said medics convinced them he could recover at home after brain surgery, but failed to provide proper care.
Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and nurse Carlos Diaz are among seven defendants facing homicide charges that carry up to 25 years in prison.
Maradona died of heart failure and pulmonary oedema two weeks after surgery. The trial follows the annulment of an earlier case after a judge’s secret role in a documentary was exposed.
