Uganda U20 women’s national team midfielder Imelda Kasemire says the Queen Cranes are fully focused and determined as preparations continue for their decisive FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie against Ghana.
The Queen Cranes remain in residential camp at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as they step up preparations for the final round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Uganda are aiming to make history by securing qualification for the global tournament, which will be hosted in Poland.
The team is working on tactical organisation and physical fitness ahead of the two-legged showdown, with the first leg set for Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium before the return leg in Kampala on May 9.
Kasemire, who plays for St Noa Girls FC, said the mood in camp is positive as the players chase a World Cup dream.
“We are excited to be in camp again. We are doing our best to get a positive result against Ghana. We want to play at the World Cup. The coaching staff is pushing us well to achieve this target,” Kasemire told FUFA media.
She said competition within the squad remains high and credited the technical team for helping the players improve and reach peak performance levels ahead of the crucial fixtures.
The aggregate winner over the two matches will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Uganda will be seeking to overcome a tough Ghana side and take one final step towards a historic appearance on the world stage.
