The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has opened applications for three specialised Youth Coaching Courses aimed at strengthening technical development within youth football structures across the country.
The programmes are part of the implementation of FUFA’s Technical Master Plan and target coaches and technical personnel working in academies and youth football set-ups.
FUFA said all registered football academies will now be required to deploy at least one FUFA-certified technical person in either Youth Coaching, Youth Goalkeeping Coaching or Youth Conditioning Coaching.
Under the new guidelines, only certified personnel will be permitted to conduct training sessions and handle competitions in the FUFA Schools of Excellence, the FUFA Juniors’ League and the FUFA Academies League.
The federation has already started the pre-selection process to identify suitable candidates for the three residential courses, each of which will run for 40 hours.
The Youth Coaching Course is scheduled for June 2 to 6, followed by the Youth Goalkeeping Coaching Course from June 8 to 12. The Youth Conditioning Coaching Course will then run from June 15 to 19.
Applicants will pay a non-refundable application fee of UGX 100,000, while successful candidates will later pay UGX 500,000 as course fees for each programme.
FUFA also outlined the minimum requirements for applicants across the three courses.
Those applying for the Youth Coaching Course must possess a CAF C Coaching Diploma, a diploma or equivalent academic qualification and at least three years of experience in a youth football environment.
Applicants for the Youth Goalkeeping Coaching Course are required to hold a CAF C Coaching Diploma, a FUFA Level One Goalkeeping Certificate, a UACE certificate or equivalent qualification, and at least two years of coaching experience in youth football.
Meanwhile, candidates for the Youth Conditioning Coaching Course must possess a UACE certificate, proficiency in English and a minimum of three years of playing experience in either women’s or men’s football leagues in Uganda or equivalent competitions.
FUFA added that, in line with the National Sports Act 2023, all applicants intending to work with players below the age of 18 must present a FIFA Essentials Safeguarding Certificate and a Letter of Good Conduct from their LC1 Chairperson.
Applications will close on Friday, May 22 before face-to-face pre-entry assessments are conducted on May 25 and 26. The final list of successful candidates will be announced on May 28.
FUFA directed interested applicants to complete online application forms for the respective courses and contact Football Development Director Bashir Mutyaba or Football Education Manager Jackson Nyiima for further guidance.
