Real Madrid’s €150m (£130m) move for Julian Alvarez has been dismissed by Atletico Madrid, who pointed to the striker’s €500m release clause.
Perez, newly re‑elected as president, had promised a “galactico” signing and targeted the 26‑year‑old Argentina forward. Atletico responded with mocking posts on X, insisting Alvarez is untouchable and ridiculing Real’s approach.
Alvarez, a 2022 World Cup winner, joined Atletico from Manchester City in 2024 and scored 20 goals last season as they reached the Champions League semi‑finals.
Meanwhile, Real confirmed Alvaro Arbeloa’s exit, paving the way for Jose Mourinho’s return on a three‑year deal.
