Brazil Respond With Convincing Haiti Victory to Revive World Cup Campaign

Brazil bounced back from their disappointing opening draw with Morocco by securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti, moving to the top of Group C and eliminating Les Grenadiers from knockout contention.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side entered the match under pressure after failing to impress in their opener, but they delivered a much-improved performance in Philadelphia to put their World Cup campaign back on track.

Brazil thought they had taken an early lead when Raphinha finished from Bruno Guimarães’ clever pass, but the goal was ruled out for offside. However, Haiti were unable to hold out for long.

Midway through the first half, Matheus Cunha opened the scoring after Vinícius Júnior’s powerful effort was parried by goalkeeper Johny Placide.

Despite Hannes Delcroix’s desperate attempt to clear, Cunha forced the ball over the line to give Brazil the breakthrough.

Cunha soon doubled his tally in impressive fashion, latching onto Vinícius’ perfectly weighted pass before firing a powerful strike into the roof of the net.

Vinícius then added Brazil’s third before half-time, exploiting Haiti’s high defensive line and calmly finishing beyond Placide to effectively end the contest.

Haiti showed greater attacking intent after the break and came close to reducing the deficit when Ricardo Adé’s glancing header from a corner forced Alisson Becker into a superb reaction save.

Brazil remained comfortable, although they were unable to extend their lead further. Endrick thought he had scored after the restart, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The victory also delivered Brazil’s first clean sheet of 2026 and lifted them level with Morocco on four points at the top of Group C.

Brazil will now aim to secure qualification to the Round of 32 when they face Scotland in their final group match, while Haiti exit the tournament despite a spirited effort against one of football’s global giants.
