As has become tradition, four Ugandan netball teams have once again advanced to the semi-finals of the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games.
This year’s semi-finals in the Netball category of the 21st edition of the Games will feature St. Mary’s Kitende, Buddo SS, St. Noa Girls, and Kawanda SS, all from Uganda.
Defending champions St. Mary’s Kitende will face off against their long-time rivals, Buddo SS, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter later today.
Kitende, who topped Group B with an unbeaten record, will look to assert their supremacy against Buddo SS, who narrowly finished second in Group A after a nail-biting 41-40 defeat to Kawanda SS.
The other semi-final will see St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana take on Kawanda SS, following an impressive 65-22 victory over Kenya’s Andersen in their final group match.
St. Noa, having secured the runner-up position in their group, will aim to upset the odds against a formidable Kawanda side.
All semi-final matches will be held at Bukedea Primary School on Sunday, with the St. Noa – Kawanda match kicking off at 11:30 AM, followed by the clash between St. Mary’s Kitende and Buddo SS at 1:30 PM.
This year’s semi-final clashes are a repeat of last year’s edition that took place in Huya, Rwanda and featured the same teams at this stage.
St. Mary’s Kitende, who were eventual champions, faced off against Kawanda SS, while St. Noa played against Buddo SS. The four teams had also reached the semi-finals in the 2022 edition.
Uganda has consistently dominated the FEASSA Games, having won every edition since the tournament’s inception.
St. Mary’s Kitende stands out with an impressive 18 titles, while Gombe SS and St. Noa Girls claimed victories in 2002 and 2018, respectively.
