KIU Titans will give it another shot in trying to dethrone City Oilers in the men’s division of the National Basketball League.
Titans made it to back-to-back finals after eliminating Namuwongo Blazers in the best-of-five series semifinal playoffs.
Nothing could separate Titans and Nam Blazers who were tied at 2-2 after four games in the semis and needed a decider on Sunday.
Just like the other four games, game five was highly competitive, and it ended a three-point game in favour of the Kansanga-based side 81-78 at Lugogo Arena.
Julius Lutwama’s charges will, therefore, face record champions City Oilers in a repeat of the 2023 playoff final.
To reach this year’s final, the “dictator”, as they’re commonly referred to, City Oilers swept aside UCU Canons in the semifinals.
Oilers won all their opening three games in the best-of-five series semifinal playoffs.
During the 2023 final, the Titans were not an easy nut to crack, and it took the Oilers six games in the best-of-seven series to win it 4-2.
Oilers will be playing in their 10th straight final, and the ultimate target is to make it 10 in 10, whereas Titans will be hoping to stop the former’s dominance with the slightest of chances.
