The 2024 Nile Special National Pool League returns this Saturday, August 31 with thrilling action on Match Day 2 of the Ladies’ League.
With the season now fully underway, the fixtures promise intense competition, with key match-ups poised to shape the early standings.
The headline clash of the day will see She Sinkers host the reigning champions, Mukono Pool Club at New Victoria Bar, starting at 5 p.m.
The defending champions come into the clash with confidence, fresh off a resounding 15-5 victory over newcomers Genesis Pool Club on the opening weekend.
National champions Rukia Nayiga and Rashidah Mutesi were the stars of the show, each winning all four of their matches in a dominant performance that set the tone for Mukono’s title defence.
However, She Sinkers, who currently sit fourth on the league table, are determined to bounce back after a narrow 11-9 defeat to Silver Back on Match Day 1.
She Sinkers will be aiming to redeem themselves and given their home advantage, they will be looking to disrupt the champions’ momentum and secure their first win of the season.
Elsewhere, Bob Male Pool Club, who didn’t play on Mach Day 1, and will be making their league debut for this season, will be hosting Genesis Pool Club at Upper Volta Arena.
The experienced Bob Male side, led by former pool queens Namuyanja Vicky and Busingye Angela, are expected to go all out for a bonus-point win.
They are backed by a strong supporting cast, including Nakaweesi Rhoda, Nasasira Brenda, and Namuli Prossy, who are all eager to make a statement in their first match of the season.
Genesis, on the other hand, will be looking to recover from their heavy defeat to Mukono in their inaugural league match, and will hope to put up a stronger fight against a seasoned Bob Male side.
The third fixture of the day will see Akaanya Pool Club take on Silver Back at Mara Bar. Akaanya will be hoping to recover from their crushing 18-2 defeat to league leaders Skin Samona last weekend.
Silver Back, who edged out She Sinkers 11-9 on Match Day 1, and currently sit third on the log, will be keen to continue their winning form.
League leaders Skin Samona, who were dominant in their Match Day 1 victory over Akaanya, will have a rest day.
The 7-club league sees Skin Samona as the only team not in action this weekend, following the last-minute withdrawal of Scrap Buyers from the competition before its commencement.
