Ugandan Police Constable Amongi Rebecca has continued her meteoric rise in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world, securing another impressive victory on Saturday in Nigeria.
Facing off against Immaculate from Nigeria, Amongi delivered a unanimous decision win, extending her undefeated streak for the year to three fights.
The latest triumph follows a similarly dominant performance in September, when she defeated Kuikstra, the 3rd seed in Africa, via technical knockout in the second round of their flyweight bout in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This victory earned Amongi a coveted spot in the Nigerian MMA event.
The Uganda Police Force has expressed immense pride in Amongi’s achievements saying in a statement, “Congratulations to Amongi for raising the Ugandan flag high. Keep winning, Becky!”
Amongi’s success adds to a growing list of Ugandan athletes who have achieved international recognition.
The Uganda Police Force, in particular, has a strong track record of nurturing sporting talent, with Olympic medalists Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai as well as marathoner Immaculate Chemutai and Mercyline Chelangat among its ranks.
