Uganda maintained sixth place according to the World Netball October 2024 rankings.
The She Cranes are now gearing up to participate in the Fast5 Netball World Series scheduled for November 9-10, 2024, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Despite the leadership issues currently ravaging the Netball Federation in Uganda, the country is still a major powerhouse on the international stage.
The Fast5 Netball World Series, an annual event that features an exciting, modified version of traditional netball, includes shorter quarters, power plays, and long-range shooting.
This year, Uganda will compete against some of the best teams in the world, including Australia (ranked 1st), England (2nd), New Zealand (3rd), Jamaica (4th), and South Africa (5th).
In the broader world rankings, Uganda’s rating of 128 points places them just behind South Africa (158 points) and ahead of fellow African rivals Malawi, who are ranked 7th with 127 points.
This makes Uganda the second-highest-ranked African team. Regionally, Uganda holds a commanding lead over East African teams, with Kenya ranked significantly lower at 26th in the world.
Despite internal challenges within the Uganda Netball Federation, the team remains focused on performing well in New Zealand.
