President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the Uganda Cranes for their successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the country’s third appearance in the tournament in the past eight years.
In a statement, the President congratulated the players, coaching staff, and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for their hard work and dedication.
He also extended his appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Sports and all Ugandans who have supported the team throughout the qualification campaign.
“I congratulate the Uganda Cranes on qualifying for AFCON. Uganda has qualified for the third time in the last eight years of the competition,” the President stated.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing sports development in the country, noting the ongoing investment in sports infrastructure.
“The government has already committed a lot of resources to construct and rehabilitate the sports infrastructure, and we will continue to do so,” he added.
The Uganda Cranes ended their AFCON 2025 qualification with a 1-0 victory over Congo in Brazzaville in their final Group K match.
