The Makerere-based rugby team started the season with great winning momentum. They have played four games and won all of them; their fourth was the graveyard derby, where they beat Rams Rugby in a closely contested game that ended 23-21.
Impis RFC will visit the struggling Rhinos today at Legends in a game that is set to kick off at 4 p.m.
The Arrogance boys are confident that they will take their fifth consecutive win, and they have hope in Henry Nsekuye, who currently has the most points in the league with 51 points and is followed by Kobs’ Joseph Aredo with 48 points.
Henry Nsekuye is arguably one of the best kickers in the league this season and has helped the Impis RFC maintain the win in all four games by having many balls converted inside and few tries scored.
In an interview with the #NBSportThisMorning team, Henry cited that some of the attributes to their top-notch performance this season are due to the fact that they have been building. “This has been a project that has been running for like three years now, trying to make sure that we retain our players, keep adding, and grow,” he stated.
Impis RFC currently stand third with 16 points in the Nile Special Premier League in a group of 10 teams.
On the other hand, Rhinos Rugby has not been at its best in the last four games it has played. They are currently in the 9th position with 2 points, having played 4 games and losing 3 of them and drawing one against the Rams.
Allan Olweny, the Rhinos rugby captain, stated, “They have been attending training, and it has been so intense, and they look forward to playing good rugby.”
He added, “We shall make sure that we keep the ball away from their opponents, and all focus is on winning the game.”
