UPL Preview: Kitara Face Maroons Test as Lugazi Welcome Redemption-Seeking Mbarara

Kitara have rediscovered their form under new head coach Wasswa Bbosa.

After starting his tenure with two defeats, Bbosa has orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, leading his side to two emphatic victories and a goalless draw in their last three games.

Kitara have scored 10 goals without conceding in this run, including a dominant 6-0 win over Mbale Heroes and a 4-0 thrashing of UPDF.

Sitting 13th on the log with 11 points, Kitara are determined to climb further from the relegation zone.

They now face Maroons, a side unbeaten in their last four games, and this match will test their newfound momentum.

Maroons have enjoyed recent successes, securing three wins during this run, including a 3-0 demolition of Mbarara City and a hard-fought victory over URA.

Currently seventh with 16 points, the Prison Warders are eyeing a potential leap into the top three with a win.

The fixture promises intensity, especially with Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe, now at Kitara, eager to shine against their former club.

Lugazi Aim to Extend Unbeaten Streak Against Mbarara:

Lugazi, one of the league’s newcomers, have been a revelation in recent weeks.

Unbeaten in their last seven games, Steven Bogere’s men have managed five draws and two wins, including commendable results against KCCA and SC Villa.

With 12 points, they sit in 11th place and will aim to consolidate their form with another strong performance at home.

Mbarara City, on the other hand, are desperate to halt their slump.

Back-to-back losses to Express and Maroons have left the Ankole Lions reeling.

Despite sharing the same 12-point tally as Lugazi, Mbarara are 12th on the table and need to rediscover their spark to stay clear of the relegation battle.

As two sides tied on points face off, the clash at Najjembe carries significant implications for their survival hopes.

With Kitara’s resurgence, Lugazi’s consistency, Maroon’s ascent and Mbarara’s search for redemption, today’s fixtures offer an enticing mix of stakes, and ambition.
