National Pool League: Scrap Buyers, Upper Volta Eye Vital Wins to Keep Rox Berry in Sight

The chase for supremacy in the National Pool League intensifies this Sunday, January 26, as title hopefuls Scrap Buyers and Upper Volta seek crucial victories to maintain pressure on league leaders Rox Berry.

Both teams, tied on 46 points after 16 matches, trail Rox Berry by five points and will be determined to close the gap as the second round of the season continues.

Scrap Buyers, who suffered a recent setback with a 15-05 loss to Upper Volta, and a draw against Wakiso City, will face Corporate Shooters at the Were Beri Arena.

Spearheaded by 2015 national champion Amos Ndyagumanawe, alongside Glorious Ssenyonjo, Alfred Gumisiriza, and captain Habib Sebuguzi, Scrap Buyers will aim to reignite their title charge.

However, Corporate Shooters, currently 11th with 26 points, will be no pushovers as they look to bounce back from their draw with Adi’s Pool Club, buoyed by home support.

Meanwhile, Upper Volta, who are still recovering from their narrow 11-09 loss to Rox Berry, travel to Adi’s Spot to take on Adi’s Pool Club.

Sitting sixth with 34 points, Adi’s Pool Club will pose a stern challenge.

Upper Volta, two-time league champions, will bank on their star-studded lineup, including Zambian ace Moses Mofya, Caesar Chandiga, Mansoor Bwanika, Rashid Wagaba, and Joseph Rwotokonya, to secure maximum points and keep their title hopes alive.

While Scrap Buyers and Upper Volta aim to keep the heat on Rox Berry, the Kiwanga-based newcomers remain formidable.

Rox Berry, who boast an impressive record of 13 wins, two draws, and one loss in their debut campaign, host fifth-placed Tororo Tigers at home.

The Tigers, on 36 points, face a daunting task against the in-form leaders.

Elsewhere, defending champions Mbale Pool Club visit Pot-It Bar to face Pot-It, who sit precariously above the relegation zone with 22 points.

Nakawa Pool Rangers, rooted at the bottom with 13 points, take on E-Play Billiards at Platinum Lounge, while 14th-placed Kireka host Sinkers at Home Base Bar.

Other fixtures include Wakiso City against Greater Mukono at Hash-Tag Arena and Club 408 versus Capital Night at Townsend Bar.

Relegation battles remain a key subplot, with Kireka, Club 408, and Nakawa Pool Rangers desperate for points to avoid the drop.

All matches are scheduled to start at 5:00 PM.
